Singer/songwriter Lacie Thibodeaux, 16, will hold a free CD release party Nov. 12 at 6:30 p.m. Freedom Church in Frost, on La. 63, 4.4 miles south of I-12 exit 22. Thibodeaux has written eight of the contemporary Christian rock songs on her CD "More Than Alive."
A bio/testimony written by Thibodeaux explaining her motivation and inspiration begins, "For too long our minds have been molded into what we think they should be. It is time for a generation to rise up without hesitation and declare the truth. "In today's society, our minds are often consumed by what will give us temporary happiness. We are convinced that this happiness is what life is about when in reality it doesn't even begin to touch base on authentic happiness." After describing her own disillusionment with the temporary satisfactions offered by the world around her, Thibodeaux talks about her musical journey, describing it as a musical journey that began at the age of eight when she started taking vocal lessons and expanded when she picked up a guitar and began to write songs in her freshman year of high school. "Just being able to express my love for God and relate my struggles in life to others through writing has been a gift that I will never take for granted," Thibodeaux says.
She considers it her mission to reach other and convey what she has learned about what brings happiness to those she considers to be "lost." "The underlying message of my songs is that we are so often convinced that it is okay to live a normal life when we're actually called to live a life that is far from normal," Thibodeaux continues. After talking about being tested in her faith while moving forward in her music career, Thibodeaux concludes, "Although I am young, I realize that God wants every area of my life, including my music. My prayer is that people will be inspired to die to themselves and live the life they are called to live."
