Reading native Liza Lee, the indie jazz vocalist, returns home for a benefit concert tonight at 7pm at Borders Books & Café to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Now a resident of New York City, Lee has performed in venues across the United States as well as abroad. Liza is gaining notoriety for her innovative arrangements of standards as well as her jazzy take on modern tunes.
Internationally acclaimed Max Jazz recording artist and producer Bruce Barth discovered Liza and was instrumental in helping her to launch her jazz career. Barth produced her first CD as well as co-producing and arranging her latest project, “Scarlet Mark.”
At this event Lee and her quartet will perform songs from her first two CD’s “Liza Lee” and “Scarlet Mark” as well as songs from her new CD project “Think About it Tomorrow” which will be released on the Jazz Doll Record label this winter.
Liza is also giving the proceeds from the sales of her CD “Scarlet Mark” to the Red Cross when it is purchased on CDBaby.com. For further information please go to www.lizaleejazz.com.
The Liza Lee Quartet featuring New York city musicians David Cook on piano and Mike Petrosino on drums and local musician Skip Moyer on bass will perform two sets at Borders Books and Café 1075 Woodland Road, Wyomissing, PA. There is not a cover charge for this event but a donation is suggested. All proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross.
