Born in New York City, soprano / educator Lori Joachim Fredrics is a versatile vocalist who's career spans from the opera house and concert hall to jazz clubs, rock venues and the recording studio.,Lori is, indeed, a rare breed among operatic soprano/mezzo-sopranos, as she is equally at home singing avant garde new music, 'legit' musical theatre, standard and scat-style jazz, as well as pop/rock-style background vocals.brbrHer latest project is recording with The Indigo Road, The band's first release a double A side single Simple/Goodbye To You features Heidi Jo Hines, the daughter of former Wings guitarist Denny Laine, on lead vocals with Lori Fredrics contributing vocal arrangements and backing vocals on "Simple". Will Munn of Rhythm and Booze wrote "Simple is a gorgeous stripped down, soulful acoustic number featuring beautiful vocal harmonies, strings, pattered percussion and stunning finger picked Spanish style guitar".
Toxic Pete wote that Simple was "Stunningly performed and massively radio friendly, 'Simple' is a little gem".brLori is known for her rich vocal tone, expressive interpretation, precise intonation, accurate musicianship, incredibly clear diction in four languages. and versatility As a concert artist she has been an enthusiastic exponent of art song repertoire, specializing in the works of Schumann, Mahler, Ravel, and Faure as well as works by contemporary American composers, including those by her husband, Howard Fredrics. Ms. Fredrics has been a jazz enthusiast for many years originally studying with scat singer Janet Lawson in New York. She also holds several degrees in music and is a classically trained soprano who has performed at international opera houses.
Artist Mission
I am too interested in music to stick to one genre , I am looking to participate in artistically satisfying projects while earning a living as a professional performer.
Music Influences
My jazz influences are the greats- Ella, Sarah, and Billie. My favorite musical theatre singer is the classic Mary Martin. The divas I worship include Maria Callas, Mirella Freni and Fredrica Von Stade.
