They were best known by their smash-hit and hot dance single Macarena (song)|Macarena , originally released in early 1994. The song peaked at the Hot Dance Singles and Billboard 200 by mid-1994. The song became a big hit in US and Mexico. The group decided to make a few remixes and other styles of the song. They became more famous (only by a bit) when they released the single "Tengo, Tengo" released on February 18, 1996. It was featured on the album Fiesta Macarena released in 1996. The group released six albums. The albums are A Mi Me Gusta , Macarena Non Stop , Fiesta Macarena , Colores, Rio y Guestano and Alegria y Cosabuena. About 5/6 of the albums featured the Macarena song and different styles and remixes. After meeting Bahama pop rap group Baha Men , they decided to make a collaboration in the 1997 single "Car Loca Rosa" remix featured the group and hip hop musician MC Hammer . The remix was released on June 12, 1998, Los Del Rio not acredited to Fangoria the remix that made them famous, editing it after its launch in 1998, so the group formed by Olvido Gara and Nacho Canut went to court against Los Del Rio.
Because of their considerable success worldwide, their native town of Dos Hermanas has named a new municipal music hall, the Anfiteatro Los Del Río , after them.
