Supported by a Master team of Artists and Technicians, this presentaton includes a state of the art customized multimedia system created by James P. Nichols, Broadway, Jazz and Grammy Award Winning Producer/Engineer; as well as Creative - Stage Direction by Claude E. Sloan, Jr. , of the LOEB Drama Center Experimental Theater at Harvard, and the New York Shakespeare Festival at the Public Theater.
With a commanding 6 octave range, M has captivated international audiences with mesmerizing stage performances highlighted by her lyrically compelling music, and an electrifying theatrical delivery. In Madwoman, M explores through song, spoken word and stunning visuals, paradox and duality both from without and within. That M is a woman of color with albinism, Madwoman is inspired even more with a most unique perspective on the notion of difference entirely.
From her very first venture into the world of creative arts, M - artist and person – has carved a bold and brilliantly unique path through the field of traditional and contemporary music as well as into new and uncharted artistic territories. Interestingly, it is in the very fundamental nature of diversity that one can begin to appreciate M the person as reflected in M the artist.
Artist Mission
Born with albinism, M faced early in life the peculiar dynamics of diversity by the simple act of looking into a mirror – a young black girl's eyes stared in; by a society's color–coded template a young white girl's face stared back. M's very existence unfolds as both a declaration and a challenge to the perceptions of a world divided and separated along racial lines. And in embracing this embodied duality, M found an equally significant aspect of her uniqueness in her extraordinary vocal gift. In her music, in her composition, in her artistry; she realized that she possessed a vibrant channel through which she could engage her surroundings; through which she could question and challenge, creatively, a world that so sharply questioned and challenged her.
