Michael Fredo (born July 17 1978 in Elmira, New York) is an American singer-songwriter and the creative force behind Fame is Television. He is also the nephew of fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger. He has collaborated with such esteemed producers as Quincy Jones, Rudy Perez, David Foster and performed original material opening for Norah Jones and Lenny Kravitz. He recently landed 3 songs on the Abercrombie and Fitch music network worldwide: Popstar Lovelife, Love all Over Again and This Time Around Remixes.

Preamble

Michael moved to New York City at an early age to study music at the Professional Children's School. It wasn’t long until he was invited to sing with the prestigious Duke Ellington Orchestra before auditioning for Quincy Jones. Michael was signed to Qwest Records through Andy Hilfiger Entertainment and began recording his first album Introducing Michael Fredo soon after releasing the song "Who Said". A track written by Michael and chosen by the Arnell Group as the theme song for the Tommy Girl Fragrance advertising campaign. His music also accompanied the Tommy Jeans television commercials which contained Michael's vintage soul through visuals all around the continent of North America. He also wrote the theme song for James Toback's movie Black and White and produced one studio album under his own independent music label. Michael's music has been featured in film, television and a broad range of advertising campaigns worldwide including The Cut, Rich Girls and VH1’s Lean on Me - Race Against MS.

The Quincy Jones Years

Michael first came into the public eye after being signed to Qwest Records/Warner Bros . Records by Quincy Jones. His single, This Time Around, reached # 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Sales Chart while touring with Britney Spears on her ...Baby One More Time Tour. His first album, Introducing Michael Fredo, sold over 500,000 copies worldwide while his music videos played extensively on MTV. Then again on 2006, Michael performs his song Popstar Lovelife live on the Fox News morning show, Fox & Friends and New York’s CW11 morning show inspired by his former tour mate.

True Love within a Decade of Discontent (2005)

During the year of 2005 Michael Fredo wrote and co-produced five (5) songs considered to be the most genuine messages of love ever written by a single artist from Elmira, New York, during an era filled with confusion, disillusion, hopelessness and discontent.

Four years after, Michael transmuted the old MusicAPT in New York where he wrote the songs for the lost generation, into a denoting public installation comprised of Gnomes to delineate the inception of a new cosmopolitan happening in 2009 all around the world.

The Fame is Television Experience

Between 2007 and 2008 Michael becomes the producer and host for Fame is Television with Tommy Hilfiger as cofounder. He also shoots the music video for the theme song which he wrote and recorded for a guest appearance by singer/rapper Tokyo Diiva. He is also featured in the Hilfiger Sessions series of concerts held in LA, New York, and Miami in the Summer of 2007.

The Michael Fredo Quintet (2009)

Michael Fredo is currently recording new material with his new Orchestra on Lefthook Records with producer Jay Levine.
