Artist Biography

Michèle first started taking ballet and classical dance lessons at just five years of age. After four years of ballet and with her first stage appearances under her belt, Michèle began to discover other styles, including jazz, street, and hip hop. She continued to perform in a variety of small showcase groups and also as a soloist.

In her early teens, Michèle discovered music and her own powerful voice, which led to her participating in school projects and performing with bands. She found real enjoyment in singing and grasped every opportunity to perform.
At the age of 15, Michèle left home to spend two years in Israel and attend a school of arts there. Her favorite subjects were theatre, painting, and singing. During this period, she received intensive vocal coaching from the internationally renowned Israeli singer, Dorit Reuveni.

Back in Switzerland, Michèle then took part in the first series of the hit TV show "Popstars“ and got far in it. However, the judges considered her talents as a soloist incompatible with the band format they were seeking. Nevertheless, this involvement in the show resulted in contact being established with the head of the Swiss association for music, who suggested to Michèle that she audition for the musical "Hair," to be staged in Winterthur, Switzerland, and also introduced her to a number of producers. This led to Michèle making her first CD productions and performing in promotional showcases. Unfortunately however, the Swiss productions turned out to be unsuitable for the market at that time.

In 2002, Michèle auditioned for “Hair" and took on the role of “Angel.“ The musical ran from May to August that year with shows every night. Michèle continued to perform as a soloist and with bands during this period.

On February 9, 2003, Michèle made it through to the final of the Viva Swiss casting show
“You Can Make It Always," which led to Viva training and opportunities to work as presenter on Viva Swiss. She also applied to the Swiss channel Star TV, but it seemed they were after blondes!

Later that year, Michèle established contact for the first time with Germany-based Toolbox Music. Shaham Joyce soon joined the team of songwriters now working for and with Michèle at Toolbox Music.

At the very first meeting in 2003, Michèle spontaneously recorded the first track, "l.o.v.e." This was soon followed by other tracks, such as the previously unpublished songs "React" and "Somethin' That I Got," both penned by Shaham. Performances and shows in a range of formats followed from 2004 to 2006, including appearances with the all-star party band
“Me and the Heat,” which consists of musicians who also play for the likes of Herbert Grönemeyer, Söhne Mannheims, Xavier Naidoo, Chaka Kahn, and No Angels.

Toolbox Music presented Michèle's tracks to various companies in Germany, but due to the sales slump and resulting downturn, unfortunately no one was able to accommodate her at that time.

As a result of other work commitments, music was forced onto the back burner around 2005-2006, and apart from occasional guest appearances and studio work, things were quiet for Michèle. As a result of switching studios and a heavy workload, the Toolbox team also struggled to find time to pursue the project.

In 2007, though, fresh and unexpected impetus came in the form of Alex Auer, Xavier Naidoo's guitarist. Alex had heard “Somethin' That I Got“ and, after a session in the studio, spontaneously decided to spice up the track by adding his own Prince-like funky licks. This prompted the remix of “Somethin' That I Got“ at the turn of the year and a makeover of the other completed tracks to freshen them up.

The conclusion – good things come to those who wait! You've got to believe in your music through good times and bad and always stick at it…
