She was first discovered by Adnan Abu Hassan when she became a finalist of the "Bintang RTM" competition in 2001 alongside fellow singers Azharina and Siti Sarah. Misha did not win the competition but her subsequent career has been successful. In 2002, Misha released her debut album "Misha", from which four singles were released including the hit single “Bunga-Bunga Cinta”. In 2003, Misha won the Choice Newcomer ("Artis Baru Pilihan") at the "Anugerah Era FM|Era " ( Era Awards ). She has frequently been compared to Malaysia n singer superstar Siti Nurhaliza . In 2004 , she released her 2nd album “Aksara” with the hit single “Pulangkan”. Her third album, Misha Omar was released in 2008 .

  • Misha had been managed by her sister, Mimi Omar, since her first debut appearance.

  • In 2003, Misha and another female artiste, Sarah Raisuddin, has been rumored to be competing with each other. At early stage, Misha was quite overshadowed by Sarah and her noncooperation with local media further hindered her from gaining public awareness. However by the end of 2003 Misha was recipient to many recognition from industry, media and fans as well.

  • In 2004, Misha performed Bukan Cinta Biasa of Siti Nurhaliza at Anugerah Bintang Popular 2003, and she also performed Bunga-bunga Cinta as encore of the award show together with Datuk Siti Nurhaliza and Datuk Sharifah Ani which is later brought her to controversies related to Siti and Sharifah by infamous 'surat layang' created by anonymous party. Misha was stated as Siti's subject of jealousy over her status as ''Malaysia's Next Sweetheart after Siti. The case was closed by Malaysian High Court and Sharifah Aini was freed from further accusations.

  • In 2006, Misha got braces on her teeth and it created some issues from fans in terms of her new appearance. Misha opened up her braces on October 2009 and launched her new style.

  • In 2007 Misha and Superstar Jamal Abdillah were gossiped in a relationship over he intimate performance together at Jamal Abdillah's One Nite Only at Istana Budaya in Concert. Jamal admitted he has some great feelings for Misha, but according to him, marriage is not in his best interest at the moment.
