Artist Biography

My Name is Recardo Hawkins; I am twenty- Six year old. My children hood took place in the roughest part of Detroit, MI. I moved to Tennessee to start my education. I enrolled in Tennessee State University wanting to career as an electrical engineer. I previously attended Lane College where my experience was great. In my search for employment I got a job at Heart to Heart Daycare Learning Center. At Heart to Heart I was offered a chance of a lifetime. When I got hired, they shared with me about the TECTA program. Before I could receive my CDA, I would have to make a huge sacrifice and change my major to an Early Childhood Education.

brbrAfter being faced with a difficult situation, I decided to consult a Haitian woman, the one person I know I can trust, and my mom. My mom responded, “Recardo, every since you were a youngster, you always wanted to spread knowledge among the world by teaching, so go for it”. I change my major to Early Childhood Education. I Transferred to Nashville State Community College to my CDA and Associates degree. I love music so I wrote a children CD on the CD is song I sing with my preschool kids.
