Q. At what age did you realize you wanted to become a music artist and why?

Karina: I was always involved with music, since I was a little girl, I was in my school choir and played the piano, but I was 10 years old when I knew that I had to sing for life. It is a magical feeling to sing the songs that youve written and when people show their appreciation it fills me with satisfaction and happiness.

Q. Most music artists have that special someone or thing that influenced their decision to do music. Did anyone or something in your life play a major role in influencing you to go into the music business?

Karina: When I was 10 years old I listened to The Cranberries and I was in love with their music and Dolores voice. I wanted to have an impact on people and get whats in my heart out there so people who are going through the same things relate and help them in any way it can.

Q. In terms of the music, which major artist(s) influenced your style and why?

N.o Subject: Each one of our members has their strong influences. Its really not down to one artist. We have a lot of influences from any kind of rock, it depends on wich mood we find ourselves to create our music. But our music is original, its eclectic, but we always maintain on our genre that is rock.

Q. With so many independent artists trying to make it, what makes you stand out from the competition?

N.o Subject: Our music is youthful, fresh and unique. We think that our simple way of viewing life and being ourselves makes us stand out from the competition. We think that each member of N.o Subject has their unique individuality and creative characters that makes us stand out.

Q. Music industry professionals are quick to say that being an artist means to gracefully fit a marketable niche in the industry. If you were offered an opportunity that asked you to be something you are not, would you do it to get your foot in the door?

N.o Subject: We are flexible, we are willing to listen to what they would have to tell us. But we will always stick to our beliefs in terms of music and most important keep the passion and love for the music that we are creating for the whole world to listen.

Q. Making music is one thing, selling it is another. What types of strategies do you use in promoting your artistic work and getting it heard by the proper professionals?

N.o Subject: Artistopia has helped us a lot, we are being seen and listened and we have seen the positive reaction of the public towards us and our music. We definitely have promoted ourselves by word of mouth with friends and families. But weve also promoted ourselves in different websites in order to get the attention that we want from the general public and the proper professionals.

Q. In regards to wheeling and dealing, how important do you feel business knowledge is to making it in an industry filled with much heartache?

N.o Subject: We think that one has to develop a thick skin and a though character because an artist needs to show strength of character in order to be respected in this career. Business knowledge in this field is vital.

Q. Let's fast forward to 5 years from now. What advice would you offer to struggling independent artists?

N.o Subject: The advice that we would give struggling artists would be to always no matter where they are standing or what problems are they facing if they they have the courage and the talent to make it in this career of music then they should never give up hope and they should never stop dreaming. Good things come to those who wait and persevere.

Q. Most successful artists are involved in charitable organizations that stand for a cause that hits close to home. In that regard, once you reach success, what charitable cause(s) would you like to be involved in and why?

No Subject: We would like to stand for different causes and for people we find that really needs help. One of our goals if we make it big in this field is to help struggling musicians who like us had trouble getting through this field in terms of money. But we think that the causes that really need more support are the ones affecting lives like helping people that have mortal diseases or people who needs food for survival. We would definitely be helping all that we can to make the world better.

Well, we thank you for taking the time to interview with us and certainly wish you the best in your music career endeavors. There you have it ladies and gentlemen, an inside look into the mind of an independent artist struggling to bring their hard work to fruition in an industry where perseverance and thick skin means survival. No one said it would be easy.
