Biography

Sam Sweeney (born in Nottingham, in 1989) is a multi-instrumental English folk music ian.

Career

Sam has been playing fiddle since he was six, he now plays and teaches fiddle. Since 2002 Sweeney has been at the forefront of East Midlands -based folk band Kerfuffle , playing fiddle, viola , and cajon , and singing. In 2009 Sam released Catches and Glees with new duo Hannah James and Sam Sweeney .

Sam is also a member of the, award-winning, big folk band Bellowhead as of 2008.

As of 2009 he tours with Jon Boden and the Remnant Kings where he sometimes plays drums and fiddle simultaneously.

Sam has also been part of the Fay Hield 's new album http://www.samsweeneymusic.co.uk/Biog/ And, along with Rob Harbron, tours with Hield.

Awards

Sam has won a number of awards including the 'In The Tradition' award and the 'Wiltshire Folk Association Young Folk Award'. He was also a nominated in the 2004 BBC Young Folk Awards.
