Scene 23 was an American pop group formed by the winners of the reality television series Popstars 2, which aired on The WB Television Network in the fall of 2001.
Unlike the modestly successful earlier run of Popstars, which formed the all-girl group Eden's Crush, Popstars 2 was one of the least popular shows on television at the time, and suffered in the Nielsen ratings from airing on Thursday nights against such hits as Survivor on CBS and Friends on NBC.
The original lineup of Scene 23 consisted of six members, three males and three females: Josh Henderson, Donavan Green, Moises Juarez, Monika Christian, Laurie Gidosh and Dorothy Szamborska. During the run of the show, producers David Stanley and Scott Stone kicked Juarez out of the group for violating his confidentiality agreement he signed to participate in the series and group by having guests over to the sequestered mansion, leaving the group's lineup as three females and two males.
Unlike Eden's Crush the previous season who recorded and released their own successful full-length album and scored a top ten hit, Scene 23 only recorded seven tracks for the series soundtrack album Popstars 2: Introducing Scene 23, which was not commercially successful. The album was heavily padded with songs from other artists, and included several tracks of people talking about the Popstars audition process set to music. The album debuted at only #172 on the Billboard album charts and peaked at #146. While the track "I Really Don’t Think So" was chosen as the first single and the group filmed a music video for the song, it was never released commercially as a single and received almost no airplay nationally.
As Scene 23's record label London-Sire Records folded shortly after Popstars 2 aired, Scene 23 attempted a move to Atlantic Records
. When the move proved unsuccessful, Scene 23 disbanded just a few months after the end of the television series.
Later in 2001, the former Dutch pop group K-Otic released their own cover version of "I Really Don't Think So," and in 2003, the British pop group S Club 7 covered their song "The Greatest" for their album Seeing Double.
