Grace for Drowning is the second album released under Wilson s own name, and builds on the artistic inroads he forged with 2009s exceptionally well received Insurgentes. A double album ( two 40-45 minute albums in the same package ) Wilson has described it as my biggest project to date. Acclaimed for his work with Porcupine Tree, Opeth and Anja Garbarek amongst others, Steven Wilson's debut album Insurgentes has been a long time in the making. Comprising 10 new tracks that range from ballads and anthems to all-out industrial noise assaults, the dark, cinematic and richly textured album represents two years' worth of creative output and numerous recording sessions worldwide in studios from Mexico City to Japan and Israel. While Wilson is a member of several bands including Blackfield, No-Man and Bass Communion, he explains that "when I began writing these songs, I quickly realized that they would be best suited to an album under my own name. It was an intuitive, almost unconscious writing process that resulted in a kind of `poetry of melancholy."

Wilson recruited a stellar cast of guests to work on the album including bassist Tony Levin, Porcupine Tree drummer Gavin Harrison, and keyboardist Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), alongside Japanese Koto player Michiyo Yagi, British guitarist Sand Snowman, and jazz flautist and saxophonist Theo Travis. The final product inhabits a similar experimental realm as recent albums by Thom Yorke, Portishead, and Nine Inch Nails. Insurgentes is the new documentary film about Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) directed by Lasse Hoile. Porcupine Tree are currently enjoying massive success across the world with their latest album, The Incident. Insurgentes is a musical road movie that follows the making of his solo record of the same name, and is a portrait of an increasingly rare artist who works with music and media out of love and not for fame and fortune, persisting in making art on his own terms in a world where 'throw away' mentality is increasingly becoming the norm. The film features footage of Wilson with other artists and friends including Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth, Jonas Renkse from Katatonia, the Israeli superstar Aviv Geffen, and the legendary producer Trevor Horn.

"Insurgentes", the debut album from Steven Wilson, was released earlier in 2009 on Kscope. The album immediately received a rapturous reception from not just fans and critics but from fellow artists. Several of these artists have remixed tracks from the album and NSRGNTS RMXS is a collection of some of those remixes. The album opens with a mix of "Harmony Korine" by David A. Stiek (TV On The Radio). Underground hip hop pioneers Dalek have created a dark, brooding mix of "Get All You Deserve" (think Massive Attack meets UNKLE). Manchester outfit Engineers, have brought their widescreen sound to "Abandoner" while Pat Mastelotto (King Crimson, XTC) has created a sprawling mix of "Salvaging" and drone act Fear Falls Burning have also reworked "Get All You Deserve".
