The band started in Kelowna, British Columbia|Kelowna , British Columbia , Canada , with four members: Chris Stickney (vocals), Jordan Chase (bass, vocals), Bradyn Byron (guitar, vocals), and Craig Langerud (drums). In 2003, Jason Ciolli (guitar) joined the band, and the next year Ryan Loerke took over on drums. 2006 saw Stickney leave the band and after recruiting vocalist Charles Furney the band decided to form Secret and Whisper rather than carry on under the Stutterfly banner.

Stutterfly's demo, Hollow , sold over 3,000 copies at their shows alone. http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/Stutterfly-Biography/E39E97C4F0FE0DFA48256C7500306AFC "Hollow" sells 3000 copies Broken in Pieces , their first full-length album, was released in 2002 (to later be re-released on the bands' own label, The Elysien Project).
Stutterfly was well established at http://www.mp3.com/artist/stutterfly/summary/ MP3.com and was a popular download. With the help of Los Angeles -based http://www.freezemanagement.com/producers.html Freeze Management, Stutterfly made a deal with Madonna (entertainer)|Madonna's Maverick Records in the summer of 2003, http://www.punknews.org/print.php? sid=6907 Punk News - Maverick Signs Stutterfly and later toured with fellow labelmates Story of the Year . Working with producer Ulrich Wild , the band released And We Are Bled of Color , which contained new versions of several songs from Broken in Pieces... , on June 21, 2005. Music videos were also produced for the songs "Gun in Hand" and "Fire Whispers".
Some time after releasing And We Are Bled of Color , Stutterfly was dropped from Maverick, http://www.fearlessradio.com/cms/index.php/20080718385/Rock/Secret-and-Whisper Fearless Radio with lead singer Chris Stickney leaving the band amicably in August 2006. Charles Furney, formerly of thebleedingalarm , joined as the new vocalist later in 2006.
On Stutterfly's Myspace page they announced that Stutterfly is no longer a band. Former members of the band including Byron, Chase, Ciolli and Loerke continued to work together under the Secret and Whisper moniker but have since gone on hiatus. Chase and Loerke now play in Shreddy Krueger together along with fellow Secret and Whisper member David Ecker. Stickney is doing a project in his spare time dubbed 'Oceans Apart'
