Digitally remastered two-fer. From 1970 and 1971 come Sugarloaf's two albums for Liberty Records. Both albums made the US Top 200 but `Green-Eyed Lady' from Sugarloaf was a huge Top 3 single. The band had another hit with `Don't Call Us' in 1975 before splitting up later in the decade. Beat Goes On.
Best remembered for their AM pop classic GREEN-EYED LADY and their mid-Seventies Top Ten Hit DON'T CALL US, WE'LL CALL YOU, Sugarloaf (named after the Colorado Ski Resort) was formed in 1969 in Denver by singer/keyboardist Jerry Corbetta. Signed to Liberty Records on the strength of their demos, Sugarloaf recorded their self-titled debut album in 1970. The single GREEN-EYED LADY - co-written by Corbetta and based on a piece of scale exercise in a practice book - became a nationwide hit, eventually peaking at number three on the pop charts. After two failed follow-up albums, the group disbanded. During this period, Corbetta pursued a solo career including a stint as one of the Four Seasons with Frankie Valli. Reforming Sugarloaf in 1975, the group recorded an album for the obscure Claridge label. At the last moment, Corbetta brought in a song he wrote expressing his frustrations with the music industry. DON'T CALL US, WE'LL CALL YOU became one of the top hits of 1975, and received the most airlplay of any track that year. This CD contains the complete classic LP plus many bonus tracks, available for the first time here.
