Sullee He may be bumpin’ the latest John Legend CD in his iPod, but don’t get it twisted: Sullee, hip hop’s new prodigy, is poised and ready to take rap to another level. Hailing from Boston, Sullee, is prepared to show the world his lyrical skills with the release of his debut solo project, Destiny. The album features tracks such as “Party Ain’t A Party”, a club-thumping anthem that’s sure to be a favorite, “Destiny,” the title track that answers the critics, and “Movin On,” featuring the sultry voice of Claudette Ortiz from the group City High. As the album’s title suggests, being the next emerging talent is Sullee’s Destiny, and Sullee’s not the only one that knows it. In fact, original super producer and “New Jack Swing” king, Teddy Riley, who has worked with artists such as Jennifer Lopez, The Neptunes, Dr.Dre, Busta Rhymes and LL Cool J, has taken a special interest in Sullee. After hearing a couple of tracks, Riley trekked from his home in Virginia Beach, VA to Boston to work on the album. He even enlisted the help of Slash from Guns ‘N Roses for a cameo on the soon to be hit “Rock Star,” which offers sheer hip hop beats over an explosive rock guitar rhythm. And it doesn’t stop there. Other album collaborators include 80s rock icon and hip hop’s oft-sampled (including Jay-Z’s “99 Problems”) Billy Squier, Tommy Mottola’s newly signed talent Ryan Leslie (R-LES), uber-producers Flip Matrix, The Producer Coalition (producers of artists such as Nas, M.O.P and Cam’ron) and Made Men’s Mr.G-Zus. Indeed, the album has a prestigious roster, but be clear:
Artist Mission
Sullee is the main attraction on Destiny. Sullee’s been rockin’ the mic since the tender age of six after walking courageously up to Maurice Starr, the golden touch manager behind New Edition, New Kids On the Block and Perfect Gentleman, to introduce himself. Starr had him perform on the spot, and afterwards, placed the youngster in a group named TCB (Taking Care of Business). Immediately, a star was born. “I’m a writer, rapper and entertainer,” says Sullee. . “Hip hop is global and I want to be a part of it,” says Sullee. “I tried to put together an album that would appeal to all people from all walks of life. I know my career will go as far as my fans will take me.” Destiny will be released on July 24th through Old South End Records and distributed through Lightyear/Warner Elektra Atlantic (WEA). ......
