Suneral n. A. A ceremony signifying the completion of a style as we know it, which in turns sparks a sound revolution. B. The band that made this ceremony necessary. Comprised of five well travelled and experienced musicians, the multicultural band Suneral burst onto the Austrian emocore scene in 2003. Playing a combination of grunge, emo, hard rock, and hard core, Suneral are constantly refining their style and searching for innovative ways to combine the member’s widely varying styles. Our music has been compared to such rock monsters as Atreyu, At the Drive in, Ephen Rian and the deftones among others, a comparison we take seriously and appreciate greatly. With that in mind we endeavor to carry the torch and further hard rock for the forseeable future. Suneral shows are energetic and powerful, the stage show at times electrifying. Since the band always gives it’s all when on stage the crowd always feeds off of this energy. Shows are marked by mosh pits and crowd surfing which we think are mandatory for every rock show.
The music is a bastard child of modern emocore and grunge. Mixing challenging rhythm combinations with disharmonic guitar chords and melodic lead and bass lines, an intriguing atmosphere is set up to compliment the powerful lyrics and vocals of lead singer Josef Zorn. The rest of the band is made up of Craig Milam (grunge axeman extraordinaire), Daniel Alves da Silva (funky bassline generator), Mathias Mayer (emocore guitarerro extreme), and Stefan Weigl (rhythmical genius).
