Would you like to help SUNSOMA make an album?
SUNSOMA have just joined a web site that helps bands to do just that, the site is called Sellaband and it works like this.
A band gets a profile on the site with the aim to raise $50,000 to make a recording. They raise the money by asking our fans and supporters plus venture capitalists already on the site to believe in them by buying a CD in advance. This is known as 1 part and cost's $10.00 or just over £5.00. As the amount they want to raise is $50,000.00 it means there are 5,000 parts on offer. Once the target has been reached - and 4 bands have reached this total so far - $30,000.00 is spent on the band in a studio with a well known producer, the other $20,000 is spent pressing and creating 5,000 CD's to send to believers who have invested.
This however is just the start. The tracks for the CD are then freely available download from the Sellaband web site, and all those that have invested in the bands get a % of the Web site advertising revenue, plus a share of the CD revenue and 10% of the publishing deal that the band has with Sellaband - the split is 60% to the band, 30% to Sellaband and 10% to the believers. You can invest your part (or parts, as you can buy as many you want!) in any band you want, swop between bands or pull out and get all of your money back at any time with out penalty.
