Artist Biography

Tacere is a new diverse melodic metal band hailing fom the capital area of Finland. The band has both male and female vocals and combines elements from different metal subgenres to create their own unique and award winning "diverse melodic metal" sound. The band has already gained good publicity in the Finnish media and Iltasanomat (= Finland's biggest afternoon paper) has compared the band to Nightwish and Within Temptation. But this band walks it's own path.

Tacere's main man Karri formed Tacere (at that time known as "Tacet Lacrimae") originally as his solo project, but very soon it became clear that to achieve his visions he needed a full band around him. Thus he started gathering people to join the band and the first official line-up was formed in the very end of 2002. Not too long after this the band shortened it�s name into Tacere and recorded their first demo "Into your dreams". For the first couple of years Tacere had only male vocals (sung by Karri) but in the spring of 2003 Helena Haaparanta (who appeared as a guest on Tacere's "The legend of Gévaudan" demo) joined the band completing Karri's longtime dream of creating a band with possibilities to create very unique songs and atmospheres.

After almost three years of work, five recorded demos and dozens of gigs Tacere finally signed a recording contract with the Finnish SM-Records at the very end of 2005 and the first Tacere single "I devour" was released 31.5.2006 in Finland. A mini album called "A voice in the dark" followed in early November instantly reaching a TOP10 position in Finnish single chart (#9) after it's release. And Tacere's long avaited debut album "Beautiful darkness" will finally be released in February 2007. All of these releases are produced by the band's front man Karri Knuuttila together with producer guru Anssi Kippo who is probably most known for his groundbreaking work with the band Children of Bodom.
