Artist Biography |

|
Since their birth in the summer of 2004 Cork band the Dardanelles have become one of the country's most promising acts. Brought together by the sharing of the same musical ideology and goals, the band weren't long shaping their craft and finetuning their anthemic indie-rock tunes. The band have received local press and the much coveted airplay as well as being subject to death threats through their own website.
Fronted by Cathal Geary (winner of the Murphy's UnCorked Singer Songwriter Competition), the band's dynamics are far from limited with Kevin Waugh alternating between guitar and keyboards, Niall Honohan on bass and Ronan Cooney on drums. The addition of Grace Cott on violin and vocals and Elma Lahimh on clarinet ensures a rich texture of sounds that make the movement from edgy guitar rock to introspective, emotionally charged slow songs effortless to this band.
The Dardanelles have already shared the stage with some of Ireland's best known acts as such as Jerry Fish &the Mudbug Club, the Houthouse Flowers and Autamata, as well as staging their own headline shows with exhilirating performances.
Memorable melodies, effective guitar and piano riffs, accompanied by the depth of violin and clarinet, gives the Dardanelles an exciting urgency that you will struggle to find anywhere else. Songs drawn from the heart like Murder Me and Horses For Courses have so far proven to be live favourites that delightfully exhibit the raw talent and song scope of the Dardanelles. They are a precise combination of intelligent music and insightful lyrics that makes them refreshingly incisive and memorable.
Artist Mission
The Dardanelles are a combination of insightful lyrics and urgent, memorable melodies that you will struggle to find anywhere else. The excitingly fresh-faced band have been showcasing their indie-pop sensibilities around their native homeland of Ireland for the last year and are currently recording their debut single with plans to promote this single in both Europe and America.
