A community of musicians and performers are emerging out of the thriving arts and experimental music scene in the heart of London. They are dedicated to the evolution of musical and artistic forms. Far from being just another ‘scene’, this is the ‘anti-scene’, but not even that…

Tired of the constraints of post-modern capitalist culture, creative people have begun to rebel in the purest possible way, by ignoring it all and starting from scratch – no rules, no history, no ambition – just an open space in which creativity can thrive.

The Irrepressibles are at the heart of the drive for emancipation. The collective bring together performers from disparate backgrounds, and have created an original and exciting line-up, which includes an accordionist, a cellist and a violinist, a bassist, and vocalist/guitarist Jamie McDermott
At the centre of The Irrepressibles’ artistic endeavour is the idea of ‘play’. This means playing with forms, with structures, with physical appearances, and with emotions in a way that delves deep into our hearts and strikes chords. The music presents an inescapable challenge to the listener, and has provoked significant interest from various factions of the media.

In January 2005 The Irrepressibles released their debut 3-track EP ‘My Witness’ through Of Naked Design Recordings. With thriving sales in Rough Trade and online through Karmadownload.com, the release dramatically raised the profile of the band, leading to sell-out live performances and a fan base embracing the electro / glam / gay / arts / music / poetry and fashion communities.
