HEADLINE: Album Release Interview with The Phantom

ARTICLE TEXT:
Q. To set the tone for the readers, how would you describe your sound?

My sound is all me basiclly. It's a form of sound that's almost a mixture of rap and hard rock maybe. Not like Limp Bizkit or Kid Rock more hard rap I would call it. At least that's what I was going for but probably didn't pull off very good.

Q. So you are about to release a new album, tell us everything about it starting with the name of the album.

Actually It's been released for about 10 months. It's called Invisible Ink. It's not done profesionally. I made it all myself in my moms house when I lived there. Truefully if you only like profesional made stuff you won't like it. It's not bad I mean but it's actaully really good for what I had to work with.

Q. Who else was involved in helping you bring this album to fruition?

Nobody, I did everything myself. Maybe my mom did cuz she got me a job at her boyfriends buisness in which let me make alittle money to buy my wal mart equitment.

Q. What would you say some of the challenges you encountered in doing this album were?

HAHAHAHA. Everything man. I had to make the beats myself...I never knew how to make a beat. I had to produce it myself with a little 8 track recorder...I know nothing about that shit. For real it took a long time to make that damn cd man cuz everything went wrong. I had to do some songs over a bunch of times. I don't even want to talk about it cuz it pissed me off. Plus if you notice sometimes my voice sounds like i'm in a long hallway in the songs...I have no idea how the hell that happened.

Q. Can you give us some insight into where, what or who motivated you to do the album?

Acutally I did it for where I live. I call it the southwest "O" or southwest Ohio. It's basiclly everything from Cincinnati to Dayton. I did it so they can see somebody from where they're from making an original sound. Cuz Cincinnati and Dayton, nobody wants to hear rappers from there. So around there they have to copy. In the 80's rappers walked around talking like they were from New York. When the west coast came out they went around acting like Snoop Dogg and now they act like they are from the south. Man this is the southwest O not L.A or Atlanta lets do our own thing. Maybe that's not the ansewer you were looking for but who cares it needed to be said.

Q. What would you say is the best single and why do you think it is?

Well when I was first making the cd I thought "Drum Roll" and "Fear The Phantom" would be the best songs or the "singles". But from everybody that listened to my cd literally everybody has a differn't favorit song. I've heard everything from "Six 6 Sicks" is the best song to "Jesus Saved You" to "Scrambled Yoke" and "Phantoms Inferno". But a few people have purchased some songs and the song I made the most few dollers from is "Drum Roll". It's just a song were I just say a bunch of stupid shit nothing nice.

Q. Are you planning to produce videos for any of the songs on this album?

No.

Q. Are you planning to tour to promote this album? If so, when and where will you be performing?

No. I wouldn't do good at it. I have a studder which literally prevents me from rapping live. That was another problem I had in making the cd. I studder. You should have heared me "F-F-F-Fear the Ph-Ph-Phantom FUCKING SHIT I FUCKED UP AGIAN"!

Q. So how do you see this album propelling your career in the music industry?

This album ain't propelling my career to shit if I don't start making better stuff.

Q. And we can’t forget to ask, of course, when and where can fans buy this album?

You can get it at www.cdbaby.com/cd/phantomrap or you can go to any music download site like napster or somthing and get it there. You can go to www.soundclick.com and play my stuff so I move up the charts and more people can see about me. Like The Suprimes said COME SEE ABOUT ME!

Q. One last question for you: What other great things or projects can we look forward to hearing about from you in the future?

I'm making a new album now. Hopfully it will be better. It should come out maybe in the summer if I don't get kicked out of my apartment for rapping to loud.

We would like to thank you for talking with us and we wish you all the best!
