Imagine singing in a night club without monitors! We rented monitors the day of the performance but the night club would not let us use them. We had to use theirs but I could not hear myself sing at all! What a terrible experience!! The croud could hear me but I couldn't! No wonder they said I couldn't sing!
Still the performance went well in all other aspects, but who can sing when they can't hear themselves?

Worked at the 1982 US Festival for the entire weekend of music and madness. Slept in a construction container at night with several other people who were either working there or just there for the show. What an experience especially considering that I was only 14 years old at the time and had never been away from home.

Played with a really really good band every weekend while they were searching for a really good bass player which I wasn't at the time. I was still learning and they wanted a semi-pro and I was an amateur.
I learned alot and was exposed to alot of garage bands in Hollywood and Los Angeles as this was were they played. Saw and heard alot of bands who were not yet famous who were still playing in their garages and parties.

When we were teens, some of us at Church formed a band. It was pretty cool because some members of the Church loaned us their equipment which consisted of 2 guitar amps, a bass amp, a bass cabinet with 2, 15 inch Peavy Black Widows, a 12 channel mixer, mics, and an assortment of other things.
The band didn't last at the Church because we had too few people in the band who were serious about making music and too many who didn't take it serious.
