Biography
Violent Delight were a Punk rock|punk / heavy metal music|metal musical ensemble|band from St Albans , Hertfordshire , England, consisting of Rodney Henderson (born 23 May 1985 ( singing|vocals ), Tom Steenvoorden ( guitar ), Ben Macrow ( bass guitar|bass ) and Ken Hayakawa ( drum s)).
Career
In 2000 Violent Delight, consisting of Henderson and Steenvorrden released ''Hands Up& #33; If You've Got VD , a 9 track demo (music)|demo Compact disc|CD . They followed this in 2001 by being signed to J Albert & Son publishers, and Hayakawa and Macrow joined later that year. A year later they toured with A (band)|A , Rival Schools (band)|Rival Schools , Ill Niņo and Suicidal Tendencies , and released "Secret Smile" and "Same Old Story" on limited edition gramophone record|vinyl . Despite their adolescence|youth (Henderson and Steenvoorden were both sixteen at the time) they were signed to a recording contract with Warner Music Group|Warner Bros. Records UK in 2002.
Their first single (music)|single , "Secret Smile", was record producer|produced by Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones (musician)|Steve Jones and gained rotation on Kerrang! television and P-Rock , but performed dismally in the record chart|charts . Violent delight's next two singles were produced by Ill Niņo drummer Dave Chavarri . The second single "I Wish I Was a Girl", reached #25 in the UK Singles Chart cite book | first= David | last= Roberts | year= 2006 | title= British Hit Singles & Albums | edition= 19th | publisher= Guinness World Records Limited | location= London | isbn= 1-904994-10-5 | page= 587 and again gained rotation on alternative music satellite channels. Their third single "All You Ever Do" also entered the UK chart at number 38.
Their first album, Transmission was finally released in late 2003, to many great reviews but some unfavorable reviews. This was especially apparent in Kerrang! magazine who had initially supported the band, and included them on some of their compilation album s.
SuzyHope was created with Henderson and Hayakawa. Whilst Macrow and Vex Red guitarist Nick Goulding, created their new band, Selladore, during the summer of 2003. Steenvoorden returned to school to study law. Violent Delight performed one last farewell concert|gig on 10 November 2006, to a sell-out crowd at the Camden Barfly, London.
