In her solo performances and recordings (particularly the ongoing project she calls "One Cello x 16"), she uses live electronic sampling (music)|sampling and repetition in order to layer the sound of her cello, creating rhythmically dense musical structures. Zoë's self-produced album One Cello x 16: Natoma has four times made it to #1 on the iTunes Store|iTunes classical charts. Keating is the recipient of a 2009 Performing Arts grant from the Creative Capital Foundation.

She is featured on Amanda Palmer 's debut solo album, Who Killed Amanda Palmer .

Personal life


Incomplete|section|date=June 2010Keating was born in Guelph, Ontario on Birth date|1972|02|02 to an English mother and an American father. She began playing the cello at the age of eight and attended Sarah Lawrence College in New York. She is also an information architect and has worked on projects for the Research Libraries Group and the Database of Recorded American Music .
