"The Motels" were a New Wave band from the Los Angeles area. They are best known for "Only the Lonely" and "Suddenly, Last Summer", both of which peaked at #9 on Billboard Magazine's Hot 100 chart in 1982 in music|1982 and 1983, respectively. Earlier on in their career they scored a Top 50 hit in the UK with the ballad "Whose Problem?" in 1980.
